San Francisco Giants rough up Zack Godley, take series opener vs. Arizona Diamondbacks

SAN FRANCISCO – A year ago, Diamondbacks right-hander Zack Godley owned a curveball as dominant as just about any in the majors, a pitch that hitters couldn’t seem to help themselves from chasing, regardless of where or when it was thrown.

They have not had the same issues this year, and whether that’s because the pitch is no longer a secret or because something has changed with how he throws it, either way Godley has seen his effectiveness greatly diminished.

On Monday night, he could not escape a fourth inning in which the San Francisco Giants scored seven runs, blowing open a game they would go on to win 10-3 at AT&T Park.
