Ryne Nelson Heads to IL

Arizona’s newest shiny pitcher has encountered shoulder inflammation and is headed to the IL. The Diamondbacks are hopeful of the young right-hander’s return in time for playoff baseball, but that is still very much up in the air. If things go “according to plan”, Nelson would be eligible to come off the IL in time for the opener of the final series of the season, on Friday, 27 September against the playoff rival San Diego Padres.
