Chaim Bloom, the vice president of baseball operations for the Tampa Bay Rays, turned down an opportunity to interview with the Diamondbacks, according to league sources, making him the second known executive to do so as the club searches for a new general manager.
The Diamondbacks also were turned down by former Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos, according to a report by Jon Heyman on Saturday night.
It is unclear how far along the Diamondbacks are in the process as they have not made any details public during their search.
The club is believed to have several names on its list, including internal candidates Mike Bell and Bryan Minniti; commissioner’s office executives Kim Ng and Peter Woodfork; former Dodgers GM Ned Colletti; and Royals executive J.
