ANAHEIM -- When most pitchers say they didn't realize they had a no-hitter in the works, they're lying. Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Robbie Ray may be the exception.
Ray tossed 5 2/3 hitless innings to lead the Diamondbacks to a 7-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Monday at Angels Stadium, but he claims he had no idea in the moment. It was only after he surrendered a two-out hit to left fielder Daniel Robertson he even had a clue.
Box score: Diamondbacks 7, Angels 3
After that hit, Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt approached Ray with some calming words of encouragement.
