Diamondbacks right-hander Luke Weaver knew the plan going in, but by the time the moment had arrived, he had forgotten about it.
So after his best inning of the season, a perfect third that ended with him blowing a 97 mph fastball past the San Diego Padres’ Trent Grisham, Weaver was shocked to hear the news: His night was over.
“It was definitely interesting,” Weaver said.
After Weaver was roughed up in the middle innings of his first two starts of the season, the Diamondbacks took an aggressive approach on Friday night, pulling him after the third.
