SAN DIEGO – As he searches for ways to fill multiple holes on his roster, Diamondbacks General Manager Mike Hazen isn’t ruling out the idea of trading from his improved prospect inventory.
“I feel like we should be in a position to try to acquire good major league players,” Hazen said on Monday afternoon, the first day of baseball’s annual winter meetings. “That’s going to take, in some cases, giving up good minor league players. We are willing to do that.”
That willingness seems to be a bit of a shift away from how the club has operated over the past year, when it has largely collected young players and draft picks while parting ways with pricey veterans.
