Why is Zac/h/k such an apparently pitcher-friendly name? For a few glorious hours on trade deadline day, the D-backs had three of them: Zac Gallen, Zack Godley and Zack Greinke. If only we had acquired the Mariners’ Zac Grotz, Arizona would have had a complete monopoly on all of the Zac/h/k G’s who have pitched in the majors this year. But it’s weirdly interesting to see how the name skews towards the mound, rather than the plate. Of the sixteen Zac/h/k’s to have appeared at the MLB level in 2019, thirteen are pitchers.
