It’s impossible to play the Yankees in New York without thinking back to the World Series in 2001. The D-backs won the first two games in Phoenix, but then lost three straight in the Big Apple - two of them in heartbreaking fashion - to put them on the edge of elimination. Of course, we know how that story ended, with the Diamondbacks blowing past the Yankees in Game 6, to set up what remains one of the most dramatic winner-take-all games in World Series history. But this evening’s game will actually be the 10th game against the Yankees in New York since those contests.
