The Red Sox have addressed one of their only holes leading up to Tuesday's non-waiver Trade Deadline, acquiring veteran second baseman Ian Kinsler and cash considerations from the Angels in exchange for right-handed pitcher Ty Buttrey, the Red Sox's No. 19 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, and left-hander Williams Jerez, their No. 23 prospect.
The Angels also sent $1.8 million to the Red Sox, according to MLB Network insider Jon Heyman.
Boston has surged to a Major League-best 75 wins and is on pace for the best regular season in franchise history in spite of the absence of star second baseman Dustin Pedroia, who has missed nearly the entire season with knee issues.
