Pollock progress 'bright spot' in gloomy season

SAN DIEGO - When you sport the third-worst record in baseball, and drop three of four games to the lowly Padres, optimism is hard to find.

The Diamondbacks can turn to Reno to find some.

That’s where A.J. Pollock is continuing to make progress as he nears his return to the club. In a game Sunday with the Triple-A Reno Aces, Pollock was 3 for 5 with 3 RBIs. In two games, he is 4 for 8 and has made several impressive defensive plays.

“Well, that’s a bright spot,” manager Chip Hale said.

Hale was optimistic Sunday the outfielder could return to the team soon.
