Paul Goldschmidt's former Arizona Diamondbacks teammates happy to see him get paid

Paul Goldschmidt hasn’t even played an official game with the St. Louis Cardinals, but the former Diamondbacks slugger has reportedly agreed to a long-term contract extension with his new team.

Goldschmidt and the Cardinals will finalize a five-year, $130 million extension on Saturday, assuming Goldschmidt passes a physical exam, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

“It’s great for him and his family,” Diamondbacks shortstop Nick Ahmed said. “I think the contract he signed back with us a bunch of years ago was one of those team-friendly deals they called it, I guess, but he’s been such a good player for a really long time.
