Paul Goldschmidt hasn’t even played an official game with the St. Louis Cardinals, but the former Diamondbacks slugger has reportedly agreed to a long-term contract extension with his new team.
Goldschmidt and the Cardinals will finalize a five-year, $130 million extension on Saturday, assuming Goldschmidt passes a physical exam, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
“It’s great for him and his family,” Diamondbacks shortstop Nick Ahmed said. “I think the contract he signed back with us a bunch of years ago was one of those team-friendly deals they called it, I guess, but he’s been such a good player for a really long time.
