MIAMI – After a month of struggles, left-hander Patrick Corbin made changes on Friday. He started his pregame routine a bit early with the hope it might help address his first-inning issues. He abandoned his change-up, a pitch opposing hitters had been hammering, and redoubled his efforts on his fastball and slider.
But Corbin was hit hard again on Friday night, allowing five runs in five-plus innings of a 7-5 loss. He gave up three homers, including two in a four-run first inning. The poor results that dogged him in May followed him into June.
Corbin had few answers for what happened.
