Original D-Backs coach Sherlock goes to Mets

For the first time in club history next year, the Diamondbacks will open the season without Glenn Sherlock on their coaching staff.

After 21 years with the Diamondbacks, including 19 seasons as a coach on every staff in club history, Sherlock felt he’d come across an opportunity that was too good to pass up. On Tuesday, he was officially announced as the third-base coach for the New York Mets.

“I have great memories of my 21 years with the Diamondbacks,” Sherlock said. “It’s been an unbelievable trip. I just have lots of respect for the Diamondbacks and I think they’re in real good hands with (General Manager) Mike Hazen and (manager) Torey Lovullo.
