Luke Weaver, offense lead Diamondbacks to sixth straight win

Diamondbacks right-hander Luke Weaver blew 95 mph past Marcus Semien, screamed something celebratory, then strode off the mound after the fifth inning on Tuesday. For all intents and purposes, the game had long since been decided. That did not change how important – or how emotional – the day was for Weaver.

Weaver fired five sharp innings in a 10-1 win over the Oakland Athletics. It was, without question, his best start of the season. It was much needed, coming at a time when there appeared to be pressure on him to maintain his rotation spot, and the performance figures to help restore faith after weeks of wavering trust from the organization.
