One of the things the Diamondbacks wanted to do this winter, was to get a reliable third starter, to back up Merrill Kelly and Zac Gallen. The news broke tonight - though somewhat overshadowed by the trade of Juan Soto to the Yankees! - that they have achieved their objective. As first reported by Jeff Passan, the D-backs have signed left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez. Reports indicate the deal is for a minimum of four years and $80m, but included incentives and a possible fifth year option, which could end up increasing the total cost for all five seasons to $99m.
