SAN FRANCISCO – As far back as spring training, manager Chip Hale had mentioned Jake Lamb as a possibility to hit in the No. 2 spot in the lineup. After putting him there for the first time this season on Monday night, it’s a safe bet that Lamb remains there for the time being.
Lamb collected three hits on Monday night, including the game-tying homer with two out and two strikes in the top of the ninth inning of a game the Diamondbacks would win 9-7 in 11 innings.
There’s a lot Hale says he likes about having Lamb hitting second.
