For a 32-year-old veteran pitcher with 13 years of experience in professional baseball, Kris Medlen felt – and looked – a lot like a rookie on Thursday.
That’s when the Diamondbacks’ right-hander met with reporters at Chase Field in advance of his start for them Friday night against the defending World Series champion Houston Astros. Medlen, who will officially be added to the 40-man roster on Friday morning, will be making his first major-league appearance in two years and his body was shaking almost as much as his voice as he discussed his comeback.
Asked if he thinks he’ll have butterflies when he takes the mound, Medlen didn’t hesitate.
