Diamondbacks reliever Kevin Ginkel retired the side in order on Monday night against the Miami Marlins, making his first big-league save look about as easy as most of his other appearances over the past 18 months.
Since the start of last season, Ginkel has thoroughly dominated hitters at every level, looking like a pitcher the Diamondbacks might be able to count on in the coming years to record important, late-game outs.
And yet, to hear him tell it, he entered last season in a precarious spot.
