Ketel Marte blasts two more HRs in latest sign of a breakout season

DENVER – When Ketel Marte showed up at spring training in February, his chest looked thicker, his arms bigger, his body reshaped following an offseason of work. After his latest impressive display of power on Friday night, Marte pointed to the winter to explain his production.

“I focused on keeping my body strong for the whole season,” Marte said. “I’ve (added) a couple of more pounds. I’m maybe a little bit slower, but I hit the ball with more pop. I can’t hit 10 triples (like last season), but I can hit 25 homers.”

The switch-hitting Marte homered from each side of the plate for the third time this season, blasts that helped lift the Diamondbacks to a 10-9 win over the Colorado Rockies.
