CHICAGO – During the second half last season, a bad game would turn into a bad week, and Jake Lamb would try to make it all go away in one night. In retrospect, Lamb believes it was not the right way to deal with a rough stretch at the plate. Instead of finding his way out of a hole, he only dug himself deeper.
A year later, Lamb is again off to a slow start to the second half, and he stepped to the plate in the sixth inning on Wednesday night riding a 1-for-24 skid. But Lamb delivered a two-run double off Cubs right-hander Jake Arrieta, then laced another run-scoring double two innings later, providing all the offense in the Diamondbacks’ 3-0 victory at Wrigley Field.
