I thought it might be worthwhile to briefly introduce myself at the top of this piece. My name is Ben and like many of you reading this, I am a lifelong and diehard baseball fan - as my wife will grudgingly confirm. I started writing here for the SnakePit with guest recaps during the 2021 season and joined the staff at the beginning of last season, but I have been an amateur baseball writer for much longer than that. One of my first MLB memories - besides the 1998 home run race - was the 2001 World Series that began my Diamondbacks’ fandom at least in part because of my visceral, learned hatred of the Yankees through my equally baseball-phanatic parents.
