Hellickson improved after bout of dehydration

PITTSBURGH -- When D-backs right-hander Jeremy Hellickson got to the clubhouse after being removed from his start on Monday night vs. the Pirates, he was hooked up to an IV to replenish his fluids.

That was a first for Hellickson, who was dehydrated before he even took the mound after being sick to his stomach Sunday night.

"I didn't eat anything during the day so I just felt tired, without a lot of energy," Hellickson said.

The dehydration was likely why Hellickson felt tightness in his glute muscle as the game went on. He tweaked it further when he tried to hustle off the mound when Gregory Polanco squared to bunt in the sixth inning.
