Groin injury puts A.J. Pollock’s season at risk

A.J. Pollock hobbled toward second base on Friday night, hopping on one leg, and when he stopped, he bent down and banged his helmet on the ground. Moments later, the Diamondbacks center fielder shook his head as he walked off the field, a trainer at his side.

Speaking to reporters a day later, Pollock didn’t go into detail about what went through his mind in that moment, but it’s not hard to imagine. Just two weeks after returning from the disabled list, Pollock is out again, this time with a left groin strain, an injury that doesn’t sound overly serious but could still bring an end to his comeback.
