SAN DIEGO – Right-hander Zack Greinke has added a new wrinkle to his delivery in recent outings, pausing over the rubber before driving toward home plate, a style reminiscent to former big leaguer Dan Haren.
Just don’t ask Greinke why he has incorporated it.
“It’s a long answer,” he said after his start on Friday night. “I don’t really want to spend five minutes talking about it.”
Given another opportunity to talk about it over the weekend, Greinke again would not explain.
“No reason to,” he said.

Greinke typically only speaks to reporters on the day he pitches, and he can sometimes be selective in terms of which questions he chooses to address.
