The Diamondbacks had hoped to have No. 1 starter Zack Greinke (oblique) back in time for the four-game series in Milwaukee starting Monday, but that scenario is looking less likely by the day.
Manager Chip Hale said “it’s going to be real difficult” for Greinke to pitch against the Brewers.
“It’s hard for me to believe he can make it back by then,” Hale said.
Greinke, who was placed on the disabled list July 3, is expected to throw a bullpen session sometime later this week, Hale said.
With Greinke’s return likely pushed back, the Diamondbacks will need a fifth starter sometime during the Brewers series.
