Grace, Williams reportedly out for D-Backs

Mark Grace and Matt Williams, former Diamondbacks players who have been connected to the franchise for most of its existence, reportedly will not return to the club’s coaching staff next season.

Grace won’t be back after two seasons as the assistant hitting coach, according to a source. Williams, the team’s third-base coach last season, also is not being retained, per a report from MLB.com.

Both players played key roles on the club’s 2001 World Series championship team and have held various roles with the organization in recent years.

Grace served as a broadcaster for 8 1/2 years after retiring as a player, and he spent the past four years in the organization as a coach.
