Goldschmidt's home run a sign of his evolution

Throughout spring training, Diamondbacks third baseman Jake Lamb noticed something about teammate Paul Goldschmidt every time he got into a 3-0 count: He was looking to do damage.

“That’s what he does,” Lamb said. “He works on little things like that. … He was kind of just saying, ‘If I get a knock, whatever. But I’m working on it because during the season, it’s going to come big up a few times.’ It came up huge today.”

Goldschmidt slammed a 3-0 pitch for a tie-breaking home run in the eighth inning, helping lift the Diamondbacks to a 4-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday afternoon.
