With 10 days to go before the non-waiver trade deadline, the Diamondbacks have fewer questions about their status as buyers or sellers than they did in the buildup to any recent deadline. They also seem to be open to more possibilities — that is, in terms of the players they might deal, those they might acquire and what that might mean to the organization’s trajectory.
During a session with reporters on Tuesday, Diamondbacks General Manager Mike Hazen seemed to avoid making many grand pronouncements. He also did not rule much out, either, leaving open the possibility to, say, move one of his core players or to even take a step back when it comes to the organization’s adherence to try to field a contender every year.
