Behind a handful of impressive defensive plays, the Rockies took a 2-1 lead over the Diamondbacks into the late innings on Tuesday night.
The Rockies’ Carlos Gonzalez launched a solo homer to put the Rockies ahead 2-0 in the fourth, the same inning they made a pair of standout defensive plays in the field.
Rockies shortstop Trevor Story made a lunging catch of a Paul Goldschmidt liner to open the inning, and with runners on second and third, second baseman D.J. LeMahieu took a potential hit away from Daniel Descalso to end the inning.
Gonzalez made a nice play to end the next inning, diving to catch a hard liner off the bat of David Peralta.
