Right-hander Randall Delgado is getting shut down, at least for the short-term but possibly for the rest of the season, after an MRI Friday revealed a flexor strain.
The film from Delgado's MRI is being sent to Dr. James Andrews for another opinion, manager Torey Lovullo said.
Delgado has been sidelined since mid-July with inflammation in his right elbow. A flexor strain can be a precursor to Tommy John surgery, but Lovullo stressed that isn't a concern right now.
Roster move
The Diamondbacks have recalled lefty Anthony Banda, outfielder Jeremy Hazelbaker and infielder Ildemaro Vargas from Triple-A Reno.
