The Diamondbacks on Friday placed reliever J.J. Hoover on the 10-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation, selected right-hander Rubby De La Rosa from Triple-A Reno and designated catcher Oscar Hernandez for assignment.
De La Rosa has moved into a full-time bullpen role since overcoming elbow problems. In 17 appearances this season with Class A Visalia and Reno, he posted a 1.96 ERA with 25 strikeouts and four walks. He did not allow a run over his last eight appearances for Reno.
He was in the Diamondbacks clubhouse on Friday and is available to pitch if needed against the Phillies.
