In Christian Walker’s memory, it unfolded in an instant. In Archie Bradley’s, it almost happened in slow motion. In real time, it took exactly 4.28 seconds, and it might go down as the most dramatic – and perhaps most meaningful – play of the Diamondbacks’ season.
In eking out a taut 6-5 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday night, the Diamondbacks needed a tremendous diving stop from Walker, followed by his on-target toss to second and finally Nick Ahmed’s return throw to first, where Bradley’s red, outstretched glove awaited to complete a double play.
