Dodgers blast Diamondbacks after Corbin Martin's solid Arizona debut

Corbin Martin's first major-league start in almost two years gave the Arizona Diamondbacks a chance, but the Diamondbacks faltered late in what turned out to be a lopsided 8-1 loss Tuesday night to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Diamondbacks (18-25) lost their third straight and 12th of 15 games.

Martin, a 25-year-old right-hander who missed half of 2019 and all of 2020 while recovering from Tommy John surgery, lasted five innings and allowed three runs on four hits with six strikeouts and four walks. He gave up home runs to Mookie Betts and Chris Taylor.

Martin's second pitch of the game landed just over the wall in center field for a Betts solo home run and an early Dodgers lead.
