Right-hander Zac Gallen has a sprain in his elbow ligament, a troubling development for the Diamondbacks that is likely to cost them their top starting pitcher for the foreseeable future.
Gallen was placed on the 10-day injured list prior to Wednesday’s game, which he had been scheduled to start.
“He has a minor sprain of one section of his UCL in his right elbow,” manager Torey Lovullo said. “Right now, we’re trying to put a whole bunch of information together. We have multiple opinions that are coming in. As of right now, it looks like we’re going to reassess in a couple of weeks.
