The Arizona Diamondbacks picked up their sixth win in a row with a 3-2 victory over the NL East’s first-place Atlanta Braves.
Merrill Kelly was excellent on the mound; he threw seven innings, allowing just two earned runs on five hits. Kelly also struck out eight batters.
Behind him, the bullpen was just as great, as they provided two clutch shutout innings, preventing the Braves offense from producing any more runs.
It was a Lourdes Gurriel Jr. first-inning double that drove in the first two runs of the game, allowing the D-backs to jump out to an early 2-0 lead.
