The Diamondbacks’ coaching staff for next year looks a lot like this year’s. The club announced its 2018 staff on Thursday afternoon, with only a couple of changes to manager Torey Lovullo’s group.
Jerry Narron will once again replace Ron Gardenhire as the club’s bench coach – only this time permanently following Gardenhire’s departure to become the Detroit Tigers’ new manager.
Last season, when Gardenhire was away from the team for five weeks seeking treatment for prostate cancer, Narron took over in his absence. Narron was actually with the club the entire year. He was around in preparation for Gardenhire’s departure, then stayed through the year even after Gardenhire returned, with Narron serving as an extra coach.
