PHILADELPHIA – The Diamondbacks’ road trip through Philadelphia has been a serendipitous event for the Gillett family – and a welcome distraction for the Gilbert residents.
Andrew Gillett was in town on Tuesday night with his 9-year-old son, Hunter, to visit a specialist about Hunter’s hip dysplasia, a condition that will require him to undergo consecutive surgeries on each hip.
The trip wasn’t something they were looking forward to, at least not until they noticed the Diamondbacks were scheduled to be in town.
“It’s a scary deal for a kid,” Andrew said. “And ever since we realized the D-Backs were playing here, it hasn’t been about a surgery, it’s been about baseball.
