DENVER – With a four-run lead, the Diamondbacks needed six outs to complete a series sweep. Reliever Archie Bradley was tasked with recording three of them. He could not get an out, nor could he protect the lead, and the Diamondbacks were handed a stunning loss by the Colorado Rockies, who scored five times in the eighth to come away with an 8-7 victory.
It was an outcome that could be viewed from either of two vantage points. Perhaps the most reasonable one is this: It was an ugly finish, and the Diamondbacks have plenty to be encouraged by given their recent play.
