The Diamondbacks still aren’t sure when outfielder Steven Souza Jr. will make his long-awaited team debut, but Souza is about as ready as he’ll ever be.
With teammate A.J. Pollock named the National League’s Player of the Month for April on Wednesday, Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Souza has been joking that he should win the same award for extended spring training, which is where the outfielder has been rehabbing.
“(Souza) said he’s the extended player of the month for April,” Lovullo said. “‘I’ve had 90 at-bats in extended; I’m ready, I’m good.’ … That’s such a great part of his personality.
