Outside of the one inning specifically requested by Corbin Burnes in the opener, the D-backs appear very consciously to be avoiding the players who are most likely to make the Opening Day roster. Here, Henry is the starter, and is more likely to start the year with Reno. Of the names thereafter, the most familiar one is McGough, and considering he had a 7.44 ERA for the Diamondbacks across 26 games last year... Unless he has re-invented himself in some way, it feels like there are better options. But it’s worth noting that exactly the same thing happened last year, with Slade Cecconi starting game three.
