Even after outfielder Bryce Harper and infielder Manny Machado each landed $300 million contracts -- with Harper’s $330 million deal with the Phillies the largest in the game’s history – Diamondbacks shortstop Nick Ahmed said he still believes there’s something wrong with baseball’s current free-agent landscape.
“There’s still a bunch of guys who in my estimation and everyone’s estimation are still big league players who are still jobless,” Ahmed said. “Guys who should be getting big league jobs or minor league invites. Everyone knew those guys (Harper and Machado) would get their contracts.”
Ahmed believes too many clubs aren’t trying hard enough to compete.
