The Diamondbacks will send right-hander Sam McWilliams and lefty Colin Poche to the Tampa Bay Rays as the two players to be named later in the February trade that brought them outfielder Steven Souza Jr., sources said Tuesday.
Both are well-regarded prospects. Baseball America rated McWilliams as the organization’s No. 13 prospect entering the year; Poche was 29th. And both have improved their stock in the season’s first month.
McWilliams is a lanky, hard-thrower who has made big strides since the Diamondbacks acquired him in the deal that sent right-hander Jeremy Hellickson to the Phillies in November 2015.
