The Diamondbacks made some major changes to their management structure, firing General Manager/Senior VP of Baseball Ops Dave Stewart and field manager Chip Hale. With those two in charge, the team went a combined 148-176. After a 79-83 season, the Diamondbacks went all-in in an attempt to bolster the rotation to a good enough level to get this team to compete for a playoff spot. That never realistically happened for the team because everything that could have gone wrong did and the team flopped to a 69-93 finish. That also resulted in the team posting the lowest single-season attendance in franchise history, so you know they were going to do something.
