Edwin Escobar made two starts with the Diamondbacks. It might be a while before he gets a third.
Manager Chip Hale said Monday that Escobar has been moved to the bullpen and that the Diamondbacks would call up an as-yet-to-be-named starter to pitch Saturday against Miami.
Shelby Miller won’t get that opportunity. Hale said Miller, who pitched in an extended game on Saturday, will make at least one minor-league start before being activated.
Escobar was 0-2 with a 14.14 ERA in his two starts and didn’t get out of the third inning against either Houston or the Chicago Cubs.
