SAN DIEGO — For the second time in less than three weeks, the Diamondbacks have demoted right-hander Zack Godley to the bullpen.
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Godley did not "entirely" meet his expectations upon returning the starting rotation, prompting the switch.
"We’ve seen some improvement but just not to the level that I wanted," Lovullo said. "I had to make a tough decision and I think it’s the best decision moving forward. It wasn’t a conversation I wanted to have once, let alone twice, but it was a necessary one."
Godley has made two starts since rejoining the starting rotation, allowing seven runs in 5 1/3 innings.
