Diamondbacks’ Rubby De La Rosa hits 99 mph in return to mound

At Peoria Sports Complex

On the mound: RHP Rubby De La Rosa, seeing game action for the first time in 18 months after undergoing a second Tommy John surgery in 2017, threw a scoreless inning with one walk. He hit 99 mph on the radar gun, a sign that his stuff is back to its pre-surgery levels. De La Rosa walked RF Hunter Renfroe but got SS Fernando Tatis to ground into an inning-ending double play. RHP Taylor Clarke, one of the organization’s more promising pitching prospects, started and threw two scoreless innings, striking out two.
