In addition to sporting a slimmed down physique, left-hander Robbie Ray also is employing a slightly revamped delivery, one he hopes will allow him to throw more strikes.
Ray says he is trying to finish his delivery with his body taking him more toward home plate rather than falling off toward the third-base side. Ray was never overly dramatic in the way he spun off the mound, not the way former Diamondbacks pitcher Zack Godley could be, but he hopes the adjustment makes a difference.
“I think it should help keep me in the zone more,” Ray said.
