Diamondbacks right-hander Shelby Miller had his most successful rehab outing to date on Saturday, tossing 81 pitches over 6 1/3 innings and allowing just three hits with Class-A Visalia.
Miller, making his fourth affiliated rehab appearance in his recovery from Tommy John surgery last May, saw his fastball top out at 95 mph on the evening. He struck out 10 and did not issue a walk.
Manager Torey Lovullo would not say what the next step is for Miller, who has not pitched in a big-league game since April 2017.
“I think the natural thought is, based on the pitch count he gave us last time, he could get into that 90-pitch range but that’s all yet to be determined,” Lovullo said.
