I guess it’s my fault. On the morning of May 25th, with the D-backs just 11⁄2 games out of a wild-card spot, I wrote an article, Do the Diamondbacks have a shot at the playoffs? Even though I worded it as a question, the baseball gods clearly took poorly to such optimism. Arizona lost 14-1 to Los Angeles the next day, on their way to a four-game losing sweep at Chase Field.
