The Diamondbacks recalled right-hander Corbin Martin from Triple-A Reno, a move that gives one of their top pitching prospects another crack at the big-league level after he endured a rocky two-start stint last month.
Martin allowed nine runs in nine total innings in starts against the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants last month. His results were not much better in the three starts he made for Reno after being demoted: He posted a 7.71 ERA (12 earned runs in 14 innings) with 10 walks and 15 strikeouts.
Still, Diamondbacks pitching coach Matt Herges said the organization is confident Martin is ready to contribute.
